[edit] Simulation creates Interpretation of the World
For engineers and scientists, it is meantime a daily routine to enjoy the results of numerical simulation or to irritate the problems about creating required numerical models.
In many fields as Compter Aided Design (CAD), the models work very reliable. There are problems with the model accuracy und numerical stability however not only at the weather forecast. These problems appearance all over, where the nonlinear effects of complex systems should be examined mathematically.
[edit] Numerical Optimization will change the World
Also at sufficient validated and numerically stable models, human can fail at the complexity of the nonlinear interactions. With common sense, a goal-oriented changing of the parameters to get a desired behavior is practically most impossible.
Here, modern optimization methods can help. In an ideal case, human can specify, which goals are to archive and the computer finds the optimal solution for that.
[edit] OptiYummy - because Doing Optimization may have Fun!
Unfortunately, such ideal cases are not standard for the application of munerical optimization. In a normal case, users miss the required knowledge of the methods and they fight with a large number of numerical problems.
OptiYummy should disburden the entrance to this new technology for engineers and scientists. The theoretical basics and practical examples of numerical optimization should be explained here in most understandable and applicable way. The focus is the robust design optimization considering variability and uncertainty of design parameters by probabilistic simulation.
